The Fleet Maintenance Technician is primarily responsible for maintaining fleet equipment and ensuring that all over-the-road equipment is legal, safe and road worthy. The Fleet Maintenance Technician must track all jobs and labor hours utilizing a work order system and must effectively operate within the Fleet R&M budget and optimize performance. This position requires flexibility to work 40+ hours per week and weekends as required. The Fleet Maintenance Technician reports directly to the Fleet Maintenance Manager or Plant Manager.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:
- Practice proper PPE compliance and maintain a safe working record and environment
| - Manage and properly maintain all vehicle maintenance records and files
|
- Immediately communicate unsafe conditions, acts or injuries to Plant Manager
| - Monitor and repair reported issues
|
- Practice proper forklift operation
| - Equipment/trailer repairs
|
- Maintain Fleet Maintenance Shop housekeeping
| - Ensure PM schedule compliance
|
- Maintain and build job skills through company and outside training programs
| - Manage operating supplies (availability & cost)
|
- Manage & maintain fleet work order system
| - Schedule and monitor outside vendor work
|
- Manage tire program (condition & performance)
| - Manage R&M costs (fleet & forklift)
|
| - Accountability for all department man-hours
|
- Forklift repair and preventive maintenance
| - Understand and practice ADS CORE VALUES
|
Job Skills:
This position should possess the following skills/knowledge:
- Mechanical / Electrical troubleshooting and repair abilities
| - Organizational and task prioritization skills
|
- Familiarity with DOT operating procedures and requirements
| - Strong time management skills
|
- Ability to work with little or no supervision

Educational Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent
| - Vocational School / industry training
|
- ASE Certification (preferred)
| |
Preferred Experience:
- 3-5 years experience in field of repair, maintenance, welding
| - Certified in brake adjustments and more
|
| |
Physical Requirements:
- The employee will lift and move heavy items, which will require the ability to repeatedly lift 75 pounds to a height of 6 feet
| - The employee will be working specified shifts and moving around at all times, which will require the ability to stand and be mobile for a minimum of 8 continuous hours
|
- Facilities can be extremely hot or cold at times, so the employee must have the ability to perform physical labor for extended periods of time in temperature extremes
| - The employee will be handling materials daily, which requires the ability to use hands, arms and legs to physically handle and transport finished goods
|
- The Position requires full range of body motion on a daily basis including twisting, bending, reaching, squatting and ability to mount/dismount industrial equipment and vehicles
